About Me
Hey There!
I'm Katherine Krehbiel, the lady behind Not a Humble Home (NAHH).
When my mother-in-law visited our home in Austin, she was wowed by what I'd been able to curate on a budget and made the comment "this is certainly not a humble home." This inspired the name of my business.
My appreciation for unique, second hand living runs deep. My mom was a realtor and successful renovator in Charleston who chose to spend a little extra to maintain the character and history of homes she worked on. Her mom started her own business selling antiques in Northern New Jersey.
The homes I lived in growing up always had thoughtful touches that added character on the budget of a single parent: the chippy cabinet found on the side of the road that housed our TV, the tomato red sink added because a kitchen renovation was out of the question but more charm was needed, a tree hand-painted by my grandma in my childhood bedroom, unexpected art collected from trips.
Not a Humble Home is a passion project started to help folks add whimsy and joy to their homes and keep pre-owned items out of landfill. When designing, l want as minimal waste as possible and appreciate the challenge of changing the mood of a space without a gut job.
I hope you will find something here that makes you smile. And if I'm lucky, a whole lot of somethings.
Thanks for stopping by!
